The Directorate of Human Resource, under the Office of the Registrar, hosted a comprehensive training workshop for heads, administrators, and porters of halls on enhancing service delivery to students in the halls of residence.
Held on Wednesday, October 16, Dr. Christopher Amehoe, Registrar, underscored the workshop’s importance, stating, “It will sharpen your skills and knowledge to better serve students. As hall officers and porters, your roles extend beyond key management; you are vital to students’ wellbeing and welfare.”
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Christopher Mensah emphasized the significance of their positions. “You ensure students’ safety and comfort, contributing significantly to the University’s administration. This training refreshes your skills, fosters knowledge sharing, and promotes best practices.”
WOI (Rtd) Issifu Zakaria, Head of Security, took participants through critical security protocols to ensure student safety. He highlighted the importance of vigilance, emergency response plans, and collaboration with campus security personnel. “Your proactive approach can prevent potential threats and create a secure environment,” he stated.
Mr. Nicholas Awagah, Director of Works and Physical Development, emphasized sustainable facility usage, stressing the need for responsible resource management. “Efficient utility use, facility maintenance, and waste management are crucial for a comfortable living space,” he explained.
The one-day workshop covered essential topics, including the use of the Hall Management System to allocate beds.
