Dr. Sedem Nunyuia Amedome is the Acting Director of the Career Placement and Counselling Directorate at Ho Technical University. A Clinical Psychologist by profession, he holds a Doctor of Education in Guidance and Counselling from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (2024), an MPhil in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ghana, and a BA in Psychology.
With over a decade of experience at HTU, he has championed student employability, wellbeing, and inclusive education. He has developed flagship programmes including Career Wellness Wednesdays and Career Mentorship Circles, and has strengthened industry partnerships through employer engagement initiatives that generate placement prospects for students.
He also coordinated the Mind Allies Training and Outreach Program, building a structured peer counselling and student wellness advocacy system on campus. Additionally, he has initiated two landmark institutional policies, namely the First-Generation Student Support Policy and the HTU Volunteerism Policy, to advance equity and civic engagement across the university.
Dr. Amedome is an active researcher with publications in several peer-reviewed international journals covering psychology, counselling, and student wellbeing.
The Directorate of Career Placement and Counselling was established in August 2022, comprising the Industrial Liaison Office and the Guidance and Counselling Office.
The Directorate of Career Placement and Counselling (DCPC) provides comprehensive and professional career counselling and guidance, and facilitates career placement, especially for the industrial attachment of students. It maintains a confidential and congenial environment where students can access information to support career decision-making and address academic concerns.
The work of the Directorate extends beyond assisting students in making career decisions. It also equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in other spheres of life, including personal development, emotional wellbeing, and lifelong learning.
The Guidance and Counselling arm of the Directorate provides individual and group counselling sessions, addressing a wide range of student concerns including academic difficulties, personal and social challenges, mental health, and psychological support. Students are supported in a safe and professional environment that promotes their overall wellbeing and personal growth.
In carrying out its mandate, the Directorate builds and maintains relationships between the University and industry, primarily to facilitate industrial attachment placements. Students are assisted in securing placement through introductory and recommendation letters.
