THE PRO VICE-CHANCELLOR OF THE UNIVERSITY

Prof. Christopher Mensah, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University assumed office on 1st June 2022 assisting the Vice-Chancellor in executing the strategic planning, direction, management, and disciplinary functions at the University. Prof. Mensah brings to the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor extensive university governance experience that spans departmental examination officer, head of department, and dean of faculty as well as membership and chairmanship of several ad hoc and statutory committees.

Prof. Mensah completed his O-Level education at Nkawkaw Secondary in 1992 and A-Level at Okuapeman Secondary School in 1994. He obtained a Ph.D. in Tourism from the University of Cape Coast (September, 2015), a Master of Philosophy in Tourism from the University of Cape Coast (September, 2007) and a Bachelor of Science in Tourism from the University of Cape Coast (August, 1999).

After eight years of working in a non-governmental organization as a Regional Conservation Programmes Coordinator and Programme Manager, Prof. Mensah started his teaching career at the then, Ho Polytechnic in April, 2008 as an Instructor and rose through the ranks to Associate Professor in November, 2020. Courses taught include Research Methods, Travel and Tour Operations, Travel Geography, Tourist Psychology, Hospitality and Tourism Marketing, Research Design and Implementation. He has supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate project works and theses on diverse topical issues.

Prof. Christopher Mensah has participated and presented papers at a number of academic conferences and has over 40 publications consisting of Journal Articles, Conference Proceedings and Encyclopedia entry. His scholarly works have been published in the Journal of Quality Assurance in Hospitality and Tourism; Journal of Foodservice Business Research; Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Education; Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education; Journal of Human Resources in Hospitality and Tourism; International Journal of Tourism Administration; Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Insights; Tourism, Culture & Communication; Journal of Culinary Science & Technology; Journal of Teaching in Travel & Tourism; Journal of Academic Ethics; International Journal of Educational Management; and Applied Research in Higher Education.

Prof. Mensah has since 2016 served as Assessor and External Examiner Thesis for the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Cape Coast. He has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for academic journals such as Current Issues in Tourism, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, International Journal of Hospitality Management, and Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education, among several others.

Prof. Mensah is also a member of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (ICHRIE) and the Institute of Hospitality, Ghana.

His research interests are in the field of: Ecotourism Impact Studies; Sexual Harassment in Hospitality; Tourism; Customer Satisfaction; Community-based Natural Resources Management; Academic Dishonesty, Festivals and Trade Fairs; and Hospitality Education.
