The Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University (HTU), Prof. Ben Honyenuga, has formally presented the amended Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Constitution to the Executives at a brief ceremony held on Monday, April 20, 2026, in the F.O. Kwami Council Chamber.
The event brought together members of University Management and SRC Executives led by H.E. Emmanuel Akpabli, President of the SRC, alongside the Dean of Students, Prof. Baidenger Agyekum Twumasi, and Ms. Salomey Takuh, Senior Assistant Registrar at the Office of the Dean of Students Affairs.
The amended constitution was approved by the Academic Board, following the completion of a review by a committee composed of representatives from both the SRC and the Board.
The Vice-Chancellor explained that the exercise was aimed at aligning the constitution with current exigencies and further announced that the amended constitution will take effect from the upcoming SRC elections, urging students to implement its provisions diligently and to report any constraints through established channels.

The University’s Legal Officer, Dorothy Akortsu, Esq, provided highlights of the amendments. These include the introduction of interim executives to ensure continuity in leadership, the expansion of executive positions from five to seven with the addition of External Affairs Officer and Gender Affairs Officer roles, and the strengthening of the SRC Parliament, now structured with majority and minority sides, each vested with voting rights. She also noted the new qualification criteria, requiring that students must have spent at least one academic year prior to the elections before contesting for SRC positions.
Prof. Twumasi emphasized that the review process was inclusive and transparent, with all procedures duly followed to ensure legitimacy. Ms. Takuh reaffirmed the commitment of the Students’ Affairs Office to support the effective implementation of the revised constitution.
SRC President H.E. Emmanuel Akpabli expressed appreciation to the University leadership and pledged the Council’s readiness to uphold the new constitutional provisions in service to the student body.
