TUTAG National Executives Engage Vice-Chancellor Ahead of Elections

The National Executives of the Technical Universities Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG), led by Prof. Uriah S. Tetteh, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University (HTU), Prof. Ben Honyenuga, and his Management team.

The engagement formed part of the executives’ visit to campus to conduct vetting for aspirants contesting the upcoming national executive positions, as HTU prepares to host the rotational national seat this year.

In his remarks, Prof. Tetteh acknowledged HTU’s pivotal role within the association and expressed regret over past disagreements that denied the University the opportunity to host the national seat a few years ago. He noted that lessons had been learned from those disputes and assured members of renewed commitment to unity and collaboration.

The TUTAG President further disclosed that measures had been instituted to forestall similar occurrences, with the procedure for the rotational national seat now enshrined in the association’s constitution. He explained that Congress, in line with the constitution, had agreed for HTU to host the national seat this year, adding that enthusiasm among aspirants was high, reflecting renewed confidence in the association’s democratic processes.

Welcoming the executives, Prof. Honyenuga commended them for their efforts to ensure peace and stability in the union following the past disagreements. He called for the continuous use of dialogue in resolving disputes and urged the leadership to keep engaging stakeholders on concerns of the association for amicable resolution. The Vice-Chancellor further encouraged the National Officers to strengthen professionalism and effectiveness within TUTAG, stressing the importance of constructive collaboration between the association and management of technical universities.

The delegation, which comprised other national officers and local chairpersons, was led by Dr. Stanley Glate, Chairman of TUTAG-HTU, and his executives. Also in attendance were the Registrar, Dr. Christopher Amehoe, and the Director of Finance, Mr. Augustine Kwame Owusu.
