Ho Technical University – HTU has on Tuesday, 10th June 2025 launched the 6th edition of the GOIL- CIMG Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Innovation Awards, a platform designed to foster entrepreneurship amongst students.
Speaking at the launch, Vice Chancellor Professor Ben Honyenuga said the programme has evolved into a valuable platform for discovery, mentorship, and personal transformation. He highlighted the impact of the programme, citing the success stories of past award winners who have launched their own businesses, pursued advanced studies in entrepreneurship, or become change-makers in their communities. The VC also noted that entrepreneurship is not limited to one area of study, and that the programme aims to nurture entrepreneurial talent amongst students.

According to the Chairman of the Awards Committee, Professor Emmanuel Letsyo, the competition has over the years attracted 149 applications, with 73 ideas shortlisted, 20 reaching the finals, and 12 businesses awarded various cash prizes. He encouraged students with innovative business ideas to test their ideas through a pitch competition, where the best ideas will be rewarded.
The HTU-CIMG/GOIL Entrepreneurial Marketing and Innovation Awards was launched in March 2019 by Mr. Patrick Akorli, then Managing Director of GOIL Ghana Limited and the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana, Marketing Man of the year 2015. The University received initial funding of GH₵20,000.00 annually for three years, later increased to GH₵40,000.00 for the 4th and 5th years, and recently, GOIL agreed to an enhanced sponsorship of GH₵100,000.00.
The winners of the 6th edition will receive cash prizes for their innovative business ideas, with the 1st Prize winner taking home GH₵20,000.00, the 2nd Prize winner receiving GH₵15,000.00, and the 3rd Prize winner being awarded GH₵10,000.00.
