PROF. OBINNIM ENDS TENURE AS DEAN OF STUDENT AFFAIRS; HANDS OVER TO DR. TWUMASI

Prof. Elizabeth Dzigbordi Obinnim has officially concluded her tenure as Dean of Student Affairs, closing a remarkable chapter of leadership that began in August 2022,

An Associate Professor in the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles, Prof. Obinnim made history as the first female to serve in the role. Her three-year tenure was defined by strategic leadership and a deep commitment to student-centered development.

The transition was formally announced by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, during the End-of-Semester Closing Service held on Sunday, August 10, 2025. In his remarks, he acknowledged Prof. Obinnim’s dedicated service and her contributions to the welfare and well-being of students.

He further announced Dr. Baidenger Agyekum Twumasi, Senior Lecturer and immediate past Head of the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, as the new Acting Dean of Student Affairs until further notice.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence in Dr. Twumasi’s ability to build on existing gains and deepen student engagement across the University. He also entreated the student body to extend their full cooperation and support to the new Dean to ensure a smooth and effective administration.
