An Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering under Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Maxwell Selase Akple, has been promoted to the rank of Professor, effective 29th August 2025.
The announcement was made in an official notice issued by the the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. Christopher Amehoe, following the Council’s 120th Regular Meeting on Friday, 27th March 2026.
Prof. Akple, who is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, attained the rank of Associate Professor in 2022, and now becomes the first faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the entire Faculty of Engineering to reach the rank of Professor. His promotion was based on a rigorous review of his publications by external assessors, recognizing his extensive teaching experience, scholarly contributions, and community service during more than 15 years at Ho Technical University.
According to the Council’s notice, Prof. Akple was commended for enhancing the University’s visibility locally and internationally through his research, collaborations, and grantsmanship. The Vice-Chancellor and Management were also praised for fostering steady growth in scholarship, with faculty encouraged to emulate Prof. Akple’s example.
