The pioneer students of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Applied Media Technology programme at Ho Technical University (HTU) recently embarked on an educational tour of two media houses in the Volta Region.
The tour, which took place on Friday, August 1, 2025, was designed to provide students with experiential learning and industry engagement opportunities.
During the tour, the students visited Ewe24 TV in Akatsi, where they were warmly received by the station’s founder, Mr. Eric Seyram Agbolosu, and his team. The students interacted with media professionals, observed the station’s production workflow, and participated in a recorded session. Mr. Agbolosu also offered internship opportunities to the students and expressed interest in featuring student-led content on Ewe24 TV.
The students then visited Jubilee Radio in Keta, the first commercial radio station in the region. The Head of Programmes, Mr. Reuben Dzidodo Adjahoe, provided insights into the station’s evolution, audience reach, and programming strategies. The students toured the newsroom, studio, and production suite, gaining a deeper understanding of the inner workings of a radio station.

The tour concluded with a visit to Agavedzi, a coastal community in the Ketu South Municipality, which is facing the impact of tidal waves. This visit highlighted the critical role of media in amplifying environmental and social issues.
Accompanying the students were some faculty members, including Dr. Harrison Belley, Dr. Kwabena Darko Akuamoah, and Ms. Akosua Ohema Safowaa.
Sharing their impression about the tour, the students described the experience as “eye-opening and inspiring,” noting that it provided a rare opportunity to engage directly with seasoned media professionals. They also expressed enthusiasm about the internship offers and reported that the tour had deepened their understanding of media operations and strengthened their resolve to pursue impactful communication careers.
