Nine Cleared to Contest TUTAG National Polls as HTU Hosts Rotational Seat

The contest for leadership of the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) has officially begun, as nine aspirants have been cleared to contest the National Executive Elections, 2026.

The vetting exercise, conducted by the National Executive Committee under the leadership of Prof. Uriah S. Tetteh, confirmed the eligibility of all nominees, setting the stage for a competitive and historic election at Ho Technical University (HTU), which hosts the rotational seat this year.

The election is slated for Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Auditorium Basement of HTU, where members in good standing will cast their votes in line with the TUTAG constitution.

National Aspirants

  • President: Prof. George Harrison Coffie (Dept. of Building Technology, Faculty of Built & Natural Environment), Prof. Deudat Emilson Adenutsi (Dept. of Accounting & Finance, HTU Business School)
  • Vice President: Prof. Charles Atombo (Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering), Dr. Frank Kulor (Faculty of Engineering)
  • General Secretary: Dr. Francis Fonyee Nutsugah and Dr. Ernest Kwesi Kafui Tsetse (both of Dept. of Marketing, HTU Business School)
  • Treasurer: Mr. Daniel Komla Tsorhe (Dept. of Accounting & Finance, HTU Business School)
  • Organizer: Mr. Francois Mahama (Dept. of Mathematics & Statistics)
  • Gender Officer: Mrs. Henrietta Meakoa Barfi-Mensah (Dept. of Industrial Art, Faculty of Art & Design), Ms. Patience Aku Dedume Glauh-Jeh (Dept. of Fashion, Faculty of Art & Design)

Speaking on the elections, Dr. Samuel Jabez Arkaifie, TUTAG General Secretary, emphasized the association’s vision to have “credible and quality individuals leading the national executives for the next two years.” He noted that the introduction of a Gender Officer position reflects TUTAG’s commitment to inclusion and gender equality.

Dr. Arkaifie further explained that, in line with the TUTAG constitution, only members in good standing at the hosting institution — HTU — are mandated to vote for the national officers on behalf of all member institutions, ensuring fairness and representation in the electoral process.

Local Elections: A Contest for Chairman
In a related development, vetting results released earlier show that the TUTAG Local Chairman at HTU, Dr. Stanley Nelvis Glate, will face competition from Mr. Albert Kweku Bediako in the local-level election. While all other local aspirants — including Mr. Victor Worlanyo Gbedawo (Vice Chairman), Mr. Leonard Agbenyo (Secretary), Dr. Edinam Agbemava (Treasurer), and Dr. Donne Muddey (Organizer) — go unopposed, the chairman race promises to be the highlight of the local polls.

With nine aspirants cleared nationally and a spirited local chairman contest underway, the 2026 elections promise to be both competitive and historic. The outcomes will not only shape the future of TUTAG’s national leadership but also underscore HTU’s stature as a hub of professionalism, inclusion, and academic excellence.
