MGT. AUGMENTS ACADEMIC FACILITIES WITH 300 NEW CLASSROOM FURNITURE

As part of Management’s efforts to improve on the academic facilities in the University, 300 additional furniture has been procured for teaching and learning.

This comes after the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, called for a consultative meeting with Deans of faculties and Heads of Department where it was revealed that insufficient furniture was a pressing concern hindering effective classroom management. Recognising the urgency to address this critical need, Management expedited action in the acquisition of high-quality classroom furniture to augment the existing facilities.

Handing over the furniture to the Director of Works and Physical Development, Mr. Nicholas Awagah, on Wednesday, 10th April, 2024, the Vice-Chancellor, expressed his profound gratitude to Management for their support in addressing this critical issue. He lauded Management’s commitment to enhancing the educational experience for students amidst the challenges the University is faced with. He emphasised the importance of creating a conducive teaching and learning environment for the attainment of academic excellence.

Prof. Honyenuga and Mr. Awagah iterated the need for ensuring gender sensitivity in the procuring of the furniture. This, according to the Vice-chancellor, will help address incidents of accidental exposure during lecture room activities.

“One good thing about this furniture is how it has been fabricated to be gender-sensitive. This resonates the actions and commitment of HTU regarding its anti-sexual harassment policy. The design in general, creates a safe environment for all,” he enlightened.

The furniture is set to be used in the newly constructed upper floor of the Agricultural Engineering building which Management took delivery of, earlier on Wednesday, 10th April, 2024.
