Ho Technical University on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 hosted a three-member delegation from the Korea Association of Machinery Industry (KOAMI) to initiate discussions on a strategic partnership focused on renewable energy and sustainable campus development.
Led by Mr. Sungbae Park, Project Manager and Team Lead for International Development Cooperation, the KOAMI delegation outlined potential areas of collaboration, including the establishment of a self-sufficient green campus and a Photovoltaic (PV) Certification Centre at HTU.
The KOAMI team also made a presentation on how HTU could integrate into the broader green campus initiative, building on KOAMI’s ongoing renewable solar project at Dawhenya, which is part of Korea’s development assistance to Ghana.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Mensah, Pro Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the initiative, noting that it aligns with the University’s current role as host of the Solar Technology Application Resource Centre (STAR-C) — a flagship project of the International Solar Alliance and Ghana’s Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.
He emphasized that the proposed collaboration would significantly enhance HTU’s energy sustainability and reinforce its leadership in solar energy innovation in the sub-region. He assured the delegation of further engagements to reach a mutually beneficial arrangement.
In attendance were some Deans and Directors, including Dr. Edem Honu, deputy Registrar, representing the Registrar as well as members of the HTU STAR-C team.
