ICAG Students Chapter Inaugurated at HTU

The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) has inaugurated its Students Association at Ho Technical University (HTU) on Thursday, May 21, 2026, in a ceremony that underscored the importance of professional development and industry collaboration for students.

Delivering the keynote address, the Dean of the HTU Business School, Prof. Maxwell Azila-Gbettor, reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to student empowerment.

“As a university, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen industry collaboration, professional development and student empowerment,” he stated.

Prof. Azila-Gbettor emphasized that the association would serve as a platform for students to build professional networks, nurture ethical leadership, and prepare for the demands of the accounting profession.

The event was graced by ICAG President, Mr. Augustine Addo, Council Members, and the Chief Executive Officer of ICAG, Mr. Eric Oduro Osae, FCA, who encouraged students to become active members of the association. He highlighted the benefits of mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities, while expressing appreciation to HTU management, faculty, and the Department of Accounting and Finance for their support.

An eight-member student leadership team was sworn into office, pledging to uphold accountability, transparency, integrity, and professionalism. The executives are Isaac Kpor (President), Harrison Krah (Vice President), Emmanuel Dzidzornu (General Secretary), Christabel Akakpo (Assistant Secretary), Sampson Ofori (Treasurer), Otilia Agordo (Financial Secretary), Segbedzi Bless (Public Relations Officer), and Emmanuel Ahiadome (Organiser).

The Chapter was officially inaugurated by Ms. Mawushie Dzikunoo, Council Member and Chairperson of the 2026 Accountants’ Conference Organising Committee, who presented the Association’s Constitution to the newly elected executives.

Speaking on behalf of the new executives, Vice President Harrison Krah described the leadership role as a call to service. He pledged that the team would lead with integrity, unity, and dedication while prioritising the welfare and academic advancement of members. He further urged students to actively participate in the association’s programmes, noting that the platform would provide seminars, networking opportunities, and pathways to professional growth for aspiring accountants.

He also expressed appreciation to the management of HTU and the leadership of ICAG Ghana for their support in establishing the association, assuring them of the executives’ commitment to serve with diligence and vision.

Present were some faculty and students of the Department of Accounting and Finance, as well as the Ag. Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Francis Ganyaglo.
