DPQA Engages First-Year Students on Quality Assurance and Welfare

The Directorate of Planning and Quality Assurance (DPQA) of Ho Technical University on Thursday, May 21, 2026, held an interactive engagement with first-year students to deepen awareness of quality assurance processes and promote student welfare.

The programme, themed ‘Quality and You’, took place at the G. M. Afeti Auditorium and forms part of the Directorate’s ongoing efforts to strengthen communication between students and university management.

Led by the Director, Dr. Edward Ayimey, the DPQA team emphasized the importance of student feedback in enhancing academic delivery and campus life. Officers encouraged students to actively participate in institutional surveys, including entry and exit surveys, which provide valuable insights into student experiences and guide improvements.

Students were introduced to official communication channels for reporting concerns and sharing suggestions. In an open forum, they raised issues such as large class sizes, poor internet connectivity, lecturer-student relations, absenteeism, sudden changes in lecture schedules, and improper dressing on campus.

Responding to the concerns, DPQA officers assured students that measures were being taken to address some of the challenges. They stressed that no student would be victimized for offering honest feedback, noting that survey responses remain anonymous. Students were further encouraged to visit the Directorate’s office whenever their concerns are unresolved through regular channels.

Other members of the DPQA team present included Ms. Oyeba Nkunu Akyea (Senior Planning Officer), Ing. Francis Komla Ampiaw (Quality Assurance Officer), Ms. Antoinette Ama Tagoe, and Mr. Simon Tunu, who contributed to presentations and responses.

The engagement reflects the University’s commitment to accountability, student-centred governance, and continuous dialogue, ensuring that quality education and welfare remain at the heart of institutional development.
