HTU NUNYA LIBRARY HOSTS CAPACITY-BUILDING WORKSHOP TO ENHANCE SERVICE DELIVERY

The Nunya Library of the University on Friday, May 2, 2025, organized a capacity-building workshop aimed at equipping staff with modern tools and knowledge to improve library services. The initiative forms part of the university’s commitment to aligning staff expertise with evolving industry standards and ensuring continuous professional development.

Opening the workshop, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Christopher Mensah underscored the crucial role of libraries in academic institutions, emphasizing the importance of periodic training. He noted that some staff may still rely on traditional practices without realizing that standards have evolved. The workshop, therefore, served as a platform for knowledge exchange, enabling participants to update their skills, share experiences, and adopt best practices from within and beyond the university.

The Facilitator

Facilitating the session, Dr. (Mrs.) Amy P. A. Asimah, Librarian of the Regional Maritime University, led an insightful discussion on ‘Customer Care in Academic Libraries’. She stressed the significance of excellent customer service in enhancing user satisfaction and institutional reputation. Through real-life case studies and interactive sessions, she demonstrated how a customer-focused approach could improve accessibility and engagement in library settings.

Another key presentation, ‘Maximizing E-Resources for Effective and Efficient Service Delivery’, was delivered by Mr. Joseph Owusu Kwakye, Acting Head of the Nunya Library. He highlighted strategies to improve staff proficiency in digital resource management, advocating for better user awareness and interdepartmental collaboration to ensure operational flexibility within the directorate.
