The University has held its 32nd Matriculation ceremony, admitting a record number of 4,120 fresh students for the 2024/2025 Academic Year.
The ceremony, which was held in three sessions, witnessed the formal induction of 2,470 males and 1,650 females into the University community.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, who presided over the ceremony, welcomed the fresh students and assured them of the University’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for their academic advancement.

He urged the students to focus on opportunities, cultivate personal growth and development, and be mindful of their online presence. He emphasized the importance of discipline, responsibility, and time consciousness, stressing that “these values are crucial for your success.”
Prof. Honyenuga further noted that university experience goes beyond academic achievement, also encompassing personal growth and development. He encouraged the students to be disciplined in their academic pursuits, responsible in their actions, and mindful of time.
The ceremony was also attended by other senior university officials, including the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Mensah; the Registrar, Dr. Christopher Amehoe; and other management members, as well as convocation.

The Registrar administered the matriculation oath to the fresh students, who pledged to abide by the rules and regulations of the University.
The ceremony also marked the introduction of the BA Communication and Applied Media Technology programme, with the first batch of students being among the matriculants.
Miss Christiana Brown Alorbu of the BA Communication and Applied Media Technology programme, Miss Bernice Nyarko Afia Larbi of the Btech Fashion Design and Textiles programme, and Mr. Fortune Mensah of the Btech Facilities and Estate Management programme delivered expectation speeches on behalf of their fellow matriculants.

They expressed excitement about joining HTU and are very hopeful of a great academic journey.
This year’s admission is the largest in the University’s history, which brings the total student population to almost 10,000.
