HTU Holds Third Luncheon with International Students to Strengthen Global Engagement

Ho Technical University (HTU) on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, hosted its third luncheon meeting with International Students and the Vice-Chancellor at the Executive Restaurant. This is to reaffirm the University’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and globally oriented learning environment.

In her opening remarks, the Dean of International Programmes and Institutional Linkages (IPIL) , Prof. Eli Atatsi, noted that the annual luncheon reflects HTU’s unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and globally oriented learning environment where every international student feels welcomed, valued, and heard.

Presenting a brief report on international student affairs, the Dean disclosed that for this academic year, the University currently has twenty-one (21) international students, comprising four (4) English Proficiency students and seventeen (17) regular international students from Nigeria, Chad, Liberia, Burkina Faso, and The Gambia. She further highlighted ongoing collaborations with international partners, including GIZ, Campus France Ghana, and DAAD, to expand student mobility, academic collaboration, and global exposure.

Prof. Atatsi expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his exceptional leadership and unwavering support for the University’s internationalisation agenda, which she said has contributed significantly to the growth of the IPIL Office.

Addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, reaffirmed HTU’s commitment to internationalisation, describing international students as integral to the University’s global vision. He assured them of Management’s continuous support and encouraged them to take full advantage of the academic, cultural, and leadership opportunities available to enrich their educational experience. He further urged them to overcome adjustment challenges, strive for academic excellence, and leverage their international exposure as a competitive advantage in their future careers.

Prof. Honyenuga also encouraged the students to focus on acquiring knowledge and developing essential skills, noting that artificial intelligence should complement, rather than replace critical thinking and learning. He urged them to uphold discipline and serve as worthy ambassadors of both their home countries and HTU.

Deans of Faculties and Heads of Department, in turn, interacted with the students, offering goodwill messages, words of encouragement, and reaffirming their commitment to supporting their academic success and overall well-being throughout their stay at the University. The gathering also offered international students the chance to share their experiences and perspectives on studying at HTU.

The luncheon which brought together Management, Deans, Heads of Department, staff of the International Programmes and Institutional Linkages (IPIL) Office, and international students concluded on a warm note, further strengthening the bond between the University and its international students.
