Ho Technical University (HTU) officially outdoored its male football team, HTU FC, on Friday, March 6, 2026, during a brief but colorful ceremony held at the University Park as part of activities marking the institution’s annual Staff Games.
Formed in 2025, HTU FC has already made its debut in competitive football, participating in the 2024/2025 Ho Municipal Division Three League. The team is currently contesting in the ongoing 2025/2026 edition of the league, signaling the university’s growing footprint in local football.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, who unveiled the team, charged the players to remain disciplined and committed to developing their talents alongside their academic pursuits. He assured that the university would expand recruitment through the University Basic School, establish a female football team, and revive work on the stalled sports complex to strengthen sports development at HTU.
Chairman of the Volta Regional Football Association, Mr. Daniel Agbogah, commended the university for investing in football and urged management to sustain investment in infrastructure and technical support to ensure the long-term success of the club. As a gesture of goodwill, he donated four footballs to the team.
The ceremony also featured the formal introduction of the club’s management and technical teams, alongside the 30 players who make up the squad.
