HTU CONFERENCE ON AGRIC., TECH. & SUSTAINABILITY SET TO COMMENCE ON MONDAY

All is set for the two days international conference on Food, Agriculture, Technology and Sustainability (FATAS Conference) at Ho Technical University (HTU) from Monday, November 17, to Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

The conference, which is on the theme, “Rethinking the Future of Food and Its Allied Systems in an Era of Sustainability and Circularity,” will serve as a platform for innovative discussions on sustainable agricultural practices, food technology, and environmental stewardship. 

The event will bring together leading academics, policymakers, and industry experts to deliberate on the future of food systems in an era of sustainability and circularity. 

Preparations have intensified in recent weeks, with the Local Organising Committee (LOC), chaired by the Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Mensah, working tirelessly to deliver an international‑standard event. Already, dozens of local and international participants have confirmed attendance. 

The official opening ceremony on Monday, will feature two keynote speakers: Prof. Eric Yirenkyi Danquah, Professor of Plant Genetics at the University of Ghana, and Prof. Mrs Ibok Nsa Oduro, Professor of Postharvest Technology at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Hon. Eric Opoku, Minister of Food and Agriculture, will serve as Guest of Honour. 

Beyond the opening, the conference will also feature panel discussions and technical breakout sessions for research presentations and policy dialogues. 

Speaking ahead of the Conference, Vice‑Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, said the gathering will connect academia, policymakers, and industry in developing solutions that promote food security, enhance agricultural productivity, and address global environmental challenges.

“It will also provide opportunities for researchers and innovators to share findings, build collaborations, and advance sustainable agricultural technologies,” he stated, adding that, the conference will also strengthen collaborations that drive sustainable development in Ghana and beyond.

Proceedings from the conference will be published by Taylor and Francis, ensuring global visibility for research presented at the event.
