Ho Technical University (HTU) on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, held a graduation ceremony for 28 trainees of the University’s apprenticeship programme. The event, which was held at the Nkulenu Demonstration Restaurant of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, marked the third cohort of graduates under the initiative.
The ceremony brought together university leadership, facilitators, and proud families to celebrate the achievements of the apprentices, whose training forms part of HTU’s broader commitment to inclusive, hands-on education.
The graduating cohort included 10 trainees in the Certificate Course in Beauty and Wellness, 10 in Dressmaking, seven in Auto Mechanics, and one in Carpentry and Joinery.



Addressing the gathering, Prof. Mexoese Nyatuame, Director of the Technical and Vocational Education Research Centre (TVERC), commended the graduates for their perseverance and dedication, describing them as ambassadors of HTU’s vision for technical excellence. “You are not just graduates—you are ambassadors of HTU,” he said.
“This apprenticeship program is a testament to our belief in your potential and the future of our industry.” He urged the trainees to continue learning, strive for excellence, and uphold the values of hard work and collaboration.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, in his remarks, underscored the strategic importance of vocational training in HTU’s academic framework. He described the apprenticeship initiative as a bold step towards promoting inclusion and innovation in education, noting that the program opens multiple pathways for young people to join the university community and contribute meaningfully to national development.


“Skills are essential. Without them, our institution would be incomplete,” he stated, and commended the academic board for approving the program to continue the tradition of bringing apprentices from the roadside to the university.
He also advised the graduates to be disciplined and maintain a positive work attitude to excel in their chosen careers, noting that, “Your skills are in high demand, and this certificate is a gateway to a brighter future.”
Present at the ceremony were Prof. Christopher Mensah, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Mr. Isaac Meyir, Director of Academic Affairs, who represented the Registrar; as well as Deans and Heads of Departments.
