The HTU Business School, under the leadership of the Dean, Prof. Maxwell Edem Azila-Gbettor, has successfully conducted a three-day capacity-building workshop for the secretarial staff of Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH).
Held from 9th to 11th September 2025 at the hospital’s Annex off the Ho-Kpetoe Road, the training marked a strategic collaboration between academia and healthcare, aimed at enhancing administrative competencies and improving service delivery.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Azila-Gbettor emphasized the University’s responsibility to extend its impact beyond the classroom, stating that it is HTU’s duty to share knowledge, build capacity, and strengthen institutions within the community and beyond. He underscored the pivotal role of administrative staff in the healthcare ecosystem, noting that while doctors and nurses deliver medical care, it is the efficiency, coordination, and professionalism of secretarial staff that create the supportive environment in which clinical teams thrive.

The training, themed “Enhancing Administrative Excellence for Quality Health Service Delivery,” offered practical insights into professionalism in visitor protocols and customer care, effective records management, strategic health service communication and branding, and the application of Artificial Intelligence and Microsoft Word to boost productivity. Participants described the sessions as insightful, hands-on, and directly applicable to their daily responsibilities, expressing confidence that the knowledge gained would streamline operations, improve patient experience, and elevate the hospital’s public image.
The facilitation team, drawn from HTU Business School included Prof. Eli Atatsi, Dr. Stanley Nelvis Glate, Dr. Francis Fonyee Nutsugah, Ms. Juliet Nugble, Ms. Jewel Dela Nuvixoxo, and Mr. Martin Abiemo. Their collective expertise and engaging delivery were widely praised by participants and hospital leadership alike.

Dr Hintermann K. K. Mbroh, Chief Executive Officer of HTH, commended the facilitators for their dedication and professionalism. He affirmed that the training would significantly contribute to the hospital’s growth and its mission of excellence in healthcare delivery. He reiterated the Management’s commitment to continuous staff development and strategic partnerships with HTU Business School, recognizing such collaborations as vital to innovation and improved healthcare support services.
