HTU AUTOMOBILE WORKSHOP GETS MODERN DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT

Ho Technical University (HTU) has taken a significant step in advancing students practical training and service delivery with the acquisition of a modern diagnostic tool for the Automobile workshop.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, officially handed over an Autel MaxiIM IM608S to the workshop under the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The equipment, known for its advanced diagnostics, key programming, and ECU coding capabilities, is expected to enhance practical training for students and improve vehicle servicing for clients.

Prof. Honyenuga described the move as part of HTU’s broader retooling strategy to align its workshops with industry standards. He urged staff and students to apply the tool responsibly and effectively to support both academic and professional outcomes.

Present at the brief ceremony were Prof. Maxwell Akple, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Robert Biscoff, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering; Ag. Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Baidenger Twumasi and Mr. Nicholas Awagah, Director of Works and Physical Development. They commended the VC and his management team for the support, describing it as a timely investment in both academia and community service.

The retooling exercise reinforces HTU’s commitment to hands-on learning and positions the University as a centre of excellence in automotive diagnostics within the Volta Region and beyond.
