Mrs. Priscilla Dzidedi Adoboe, Founder and Creative Director of the fashion brand LETIDO and alumna of the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles at Ho Technical University (HTU), has urged graduates to cultivate resilient personal brands, embrace intentionality, and prepare for the realities of life beyond school.
Speaking at the first session of the 26th Congregation on Thursday, November 27, 2025, Mrs. Adoboe described the invitation as a great honour, noting that diligence always attracts recognition.
“Fashion is not for the weak. Fashion will take your time, take your brains, and suck your pocket dry,” she recalled, adding that this truth shaped her work ethic and continues to inspire her entrepreneurial journey.
She emphasised that HTU equips students not only for employment but also for job creation, encouraging the Class of 2025 to apply the practical knowledge they have acquired instead of outsourcing skills they already possess.
“Mastery comes from consistency, resilience and applying what you know,” she stressed, urging graduates to distinguish themselves through strong personal branding.
Mrs. Adoboe highlighted the importance of starting small, citing her own journey. She recounted how her business began on campus under the name Pridi Trends, long before she owned a sewing machine. With borrowed equipment and determination, she positioned herself intentionally, maintained high standards, and even sponsored events through service and commitment.
She further underscored the value of networking, advising graduates to connect with colleagues who show promise and to build strategic relationships.
Dispelling the notion that success requires privilege, she reminded the graduates: “No one cares about your story while it bears no meaning. Everyone is busy carving a path, so don’t waste time glooming over your lack.”
Delivering what she termed “the hard truth,” Mrs. Adoboe cautioned that the journey ahead would not be easy, involving sleepless nights, losses, and difficult employers. Yet, she reassured them that the reward of entrepreneurship and hard work is invaluable.
From working in front of someone’s shop, she now employs over 50 permanent workers at LETIDO, a testament to persistence and resilience.
Encouraging the graduates to believe in their dreams and aspire to create opportunities for others, she concluded: “The feeling of providing jobs is priceless.”
A total of 1869 students who completed their various programmes of study in the 2024/2025 academic year graduated at 26th Congregation in two sessions. The ceremony was presided over by the first female Chairperson of the University Council, Prof. Smile Gavua Dzisi.
