Dr. C.K. Amehoe Bows Out as HTU Registrar

Ho Technical University (HTU) on Friday, March 27, 2026, hosted a colourful and dignified send‑off to honour Dr. Christopher Kwasi Amehoe, who has bowed out after more than a decade of distinguished service as Registrar.

The memorable occasion, held at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium Basement, brought together family, colleagues, dignitaries, and friends of the University community to celebrate his remarkable leadership and lasting legacy.

Dr. Amehoe joined the institution in 2015, succeeding Mr. David Dzontoh as Registrar. He went on to serve as both the last Polytechnic Registrar and the first University Registrar, playing a pivotal role in HTU’s historic transition from Polytechnic to University status.

Earlier on the day of the send‑off, he performed his final official duty as Secretary to Council during its 120th Regular Meeting. In his farewell speech, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to past and present leadership, staff, and the wider university community for their support and cooperation throughout his tenure. He wished HTU continued progress and greater achievements in the years ahead.

Tributes flowed from management and staff groups, describing him as a mentor, father figure, and guiding light. The Vice‑Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga praised him as “an honest and trusted registrar” whose fearless application of statutes and regulations strengthened the institution’s governance. Various staff groups and individuals presented citations and gifts in appreciation of his service.

The ceremony was graced by the Deputy Director‑General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Prof. Augustine Ocloo, and the Deputy Director‑General of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), Mr. Zakaria Abdul-Rahaman, who is also a member of University Council. Other distinguished guests included Ms. Yaa Amankwa Opuni, Registrar of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), and Prof. Kenneth Nyalemegbe, President of E.P. University College. His wife and children were also present, sharing in the celebration of his legacy.

The evening programme also featured special prayers for the retiree, led by Rev. Ing. Dr. Seth Dzokoto and Rev. Fr. Sylvester Agbezuge, the University Chaplain. The University Choir added colour and melody to the celebration, lifting the atmosphere with harmonious renditions that reflected the joy and gratitude of the occasion.

Dr. Amehoe leaves behind a record of excellence, accountability, and institutional transformation, having played a pivotal role in HTU’s transition from Polytechnic to University status.

His bowing out marks not merely the end of a chapter, but the celebration of a career that has profoundly shaped Ho Technical University’s governance and growth.
