As a university with the aim of training competent first-class human resource for the national development and the world at large, we stretch out to engage the best of skilled labour capable of meeting the core mandate of the University. Effective practical training, research, dissemination of knowledge and other extension services are carried out by teaching staff with the support of professional and other essential staff who are all highly qualified.

To realise this, the Directorate of Human Resource (DHR) is committed to providing all the support required by staff of the university such as ensuring the timely   recruitment, staff selection placement and promotions; generating and managing staff data and information; training and professional development.

To further deepen the confidence of staff in the Directorate, efforts are continually made to de-mystify systems and processes by availing documents one needs in addressing their human resource related issues. Director of Human Resource

Mr. Michael T.K. Todoko

The Directorate focuses on the following as stipulated by the mandate given it by the Statutes of the University; and as by the Registrar, direct:

• Lead in the development and implementation of the human resource policies of the University
• Provide strategic planning with respect to the human resource needs of the University
• Ensure the timely renewal and termination of employment contracts
• Institute and maintain a system for monitoring and evaluating the performance of all employees of the University and submit reports thereon to the Vice-Chancellor and the Council
• Manage and advise on the collective bargaining process and collective agreements with unionized staff;
• Institute a system for continuing education and in-service training for all employees of the University
• Discharge any other assignment that the Registrar shall deem necessary

• Staff Recruitment and Placement

Achievements

1. Successfully interviewed, hired, and trained over 300 new staff cutting across the various staff categories, and ranks of the University.
2. Orientation and successful placement of all newly employed staff in various roles within the University.
3. As part of our staff development and training strategy, the University has offered study leave to over 200 staff since 2017. This helps employees improve their competences and close knowledge and skill gaps. There are currently 125 staff on study leave pursuing PhD, Master’s, Degree, and HND programs.
4. The office facilitated the promotion of over 150 staff (both teaching and non-teaching) based on merit with regards to their performance in the following areas: Research, Teaching and Scholarship, Administration, Management, and Leadership in the University and community service.
5. Rolling out of an online leave application and processing through a designed Management Software System.
6. Increased the Directorate’s efficiency through the implementation of electronic staff data management systems.
7. Implemented a new web portal communication system for disseminating relevant information to staff at all levels.
