The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Honyenuga and his delegation have paid a working visit to the Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute, as part of their recent visit to the West African nation.
The visit provided a platform for productive discussions with GTHI’s Director General, Mr. Momodou Singhateh, which centred on areas of mutual interest and future collaboration.
Key among the discussions was the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise collaboration between the two institutions. When signed, the MoU will serve as a framework for joint initiatives, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building projects aimed at advancing the skill set of practitioners in the hospitality and tourism industry.
Prof. Honyenuga indicated how faculty exchange programmes would promote professional development, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of best practices. He added that these initiatives will create opportunities for staff and students from both institutions to benefit from diverse experiences and exposure to global trends in hospitality and tourism education.
The team, including the Registrar, Dr. C.K. Amehoe also engaged with GTHI students through an interactive presentation that highlighted HTU’s programmes, academic strengths, and internationalisation agenda, while encouraging future collaboration and exchange opportunities.
Prof. Honyenuga emphasised HTU’s commitment to fostering strong international partnerships. This visit marks an important milestone in HTU’s mission to build impactful partnerships that enhance academic quality and open doors to global opportunities.
