MANAGEMENT HANDS OVER LAB TO AGRIC SCIENCES DEPT.

Management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, has handed over a laboratory space to the Department of Agricultural Sciences and Technology on Thursday, July 19, 2023.

The laboratory, located on the ground floor of the Afadzato block, was transformed from a former classroom space by the Directorate of Works and Physical Development (DWPD).

According to the Director, Mr. Nicholas Awagah, the refurbished lab has a seating capacity of about 15-20 persons. Additionally, it features three offices, which can be shared by two staff in each office.

Presenting the keys to the Head of Department, the Vice-Chancellor explained that the idea behind converting the ground floor of the Afadjato block into laboratories was to maximize the available facilities and resources in the University.

He expressed optimism that the new lab will enhance the research and innovation experimentation of the Department. He also assured that the necessary retooling of the lab would be done in due course to improve its standard.

He urged the staff to make good use of the space to enhance students’ experience.

Prof. Honyenuga also commended the staff of DWPD for undertaking the refurbishment.

On his part, Prof. Kenneth Fafa Egbadzor, the Head of Department, expressed gratitude to Management for responding to their request to support the research work of the Department. He assured that the facility would be maintained and put to good use for the benefit of all.
