30TH SRC EXECUTIVES INDUCTED INTO OFFICE

On Friday, July 21, 2023, the 30th handing over ceremony of the Student Representative Council (SRC) took place at the G.M Afeti auditorium. The transition of leadership from the Gatogo-led SRC administration to its successor for the 2023/24 academic year occurred during a special sitting of the SRC Parliament.

The new administration, consisting of five members, led by Theophilous Biney as President and his Vice President, Enoch Addo, were sworn into office. The other members include Grace Fafali Agbeli as General Secretary, Churchill Kwesi Afolabi as Financial Secretary, and Enoch Nyadzor as Organising Secretary.

In his farewell speech to the House and the entire student body of the noble university, the outgoing SRC President, Francis Gatogo, highlighted his administration’s achievements and challenges. He also mentioned their ongoing projects and requested the current administration to carry them forward. He then offered some advice to guide the current administration and expressed gratitude to the Management and students of the University for their support during his tenure.

Theophilous Biney, in his inauguration speech expressed gratitude to all students for electing him as their leader for the 2023-2024 academic year. He also appreciated the support of the past administration and encouraged all students to actively participate in shaping their university experience. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the student body of HTU with utmost dedication and passion.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, commended the SRC for conducting successful and peaceful elections. He urged the new officers to abide by the tenets of the SRC constitution and the University rules and regulations. He assured them of Management’s support and requested the student body to cooperate with their leaders to ensure peace and harmony on campus.

Present at the ceremony were the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Elizabeth Obinnim, the Registrar, Dr. Christopher Amehoe , the Ag. Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Isaac S. Meyir and other University officials.

The ceremony was also witnessed by SRC Presidents of the other sister universities across the country.
