WorldSkills Africa Winners Show Appreciation to Management

Two students who won medals for Ghana at the Worldskills Africa Competition have presented a citation to the University Management in appreciation of the immense support offered them throughout the competition.

Mr. Manfuji Yao Agbo and Ms. Deladem Okoh, as part of Ghana’s contingent at the Worldskills Africa Competition in Namibia, won gold and silver medals in their respective trades- Web Technology and Fashion Technology for the country in April, 2022.

Consequently, Management offered them citations and full scholarship to pursue their top-op degrees in the University, in recognition of their feat.

In reciprocal gesture, the champions presented a citation of appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga during a courtesy call on Monday, June 13, 2022.

Excerpts of the citation read ‘on behalf of the 2021/22 HTU WorldSkills Competition team, we extend our profound gratitude to the University Management, our Compatriot Experts, and all who supported us towards this great achievement. …right from the zonal, national to the Africa competition.’

Receiving the citation on behalf of Management, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the students for their thoughtfulness and urged them to continue to be worthy ambassadors for the University.

‘You have become role models for other students and even the prospective ones. So, continue to propagate the good works of HTU. Let people know here, we provide equal opportunity for all students to excel,’ the VC stated.

He urged them to keep up the good work and present themselves in a banner that will improve upon the image and reputation of the University especially as they have been invited to the seat of Government in Accra and Commission for Technical and Vocational Education Training (CTVET).

The two, together with two other national competitors from the University, leave for the august invitation on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
