Vice-Chancellor Hosts Orientation for Circular Economy Centre Staff

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, has hosted a day’s orientation session for staff of the Ghana Circular Economy Centre (GCEC), which is being hosted by the Ho Technical University.

The session exposed the officials to the University’s mandate, organogram, and its administrative processes and procedures, ensuring that the Centre’s operations are fully aligned with HTU’s institutional framework.

Prof. Honyenuga noted that the presence of the officials makes them part of the HTU community and assured them of all necessary support and cooperation. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to advancing Ghana’s circular economy agenda through research, training, and innovation incubation, stressing that the collaboration with the Centre will further strengthen HTU’s role in national development.

The five-member staff of the Centre introduced at the programme included Dr. Marindame Kombate, Executive Director; Sharon Parku, Knowledge Management and Monitoring & Evaluation Expert; Stephanie Donu Sarpong, National Gender and Youth Expert; Richmond Quayson, Venture Studio Lead; and Abigail Korda, Team Assistant.

Mr. Kombate expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and Management of HTU for the orientation, acknowledging the synergy between the University’s mandate and the Centre’s objectives. He said the Centre now has its full complement of five staff, including three women, and shared progress made under the Circular Economy project.

He noted that 29 foundational training sessions have been conducted across nine regions, reaching 1,663 participants, with 56 percent being women and 78 percent youth. He added that 676 SME entrepreneurs have been trained to adopt circular economy practices.

Also present were HTU’s project team leads, Dr. Jennifer Adaletey and Dr. Harrison Adjimah, who joined the session to strengthen collaboration between the University and the Centre.

The session, which has in attendance some management members, including directors, was marked by fruitful deliberations and presentations, underscoring HTU’s resolve to integrate the Centre’s mandate into its academic and operational framework.
