In a concerted effort to enhance the quality of services at the University Clinic, Management has successfully set up an ultrasound unit to expand the range of essential diagnostic services offered at the facility.
The unit is now equipped with a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine, generously donated by the Ghana Association of Quasi-Government Health Institutions (GAQHI).
During a briefing unveiling ceremony held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, Dr. Redeemer S. Fiebor, the Medical Director, expressed his anticipation that the introduction of ultrasound scans would significantly elevate the clinic’s operational capabilities, thus complementing the diagnostic services available to valued clients.
He emphasised that the equipment was a cutting-edge device capable of conducting various diagnostic scans across the entire body. Additionally, he disclosed that arrangements had been made to involve a senior radiologist in operating the equipment, as well as train a designated staff to proficiently handle it.
He extended his heartfelt appreciation to the University Management for their pivotal role in securing the valuable equipment and their unwavering support for the clinic.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, applauded GAQHI, of which the University Clinic is a proud member, for their generous gesture. He noted that the new equipment would not only benefit members of the University Community but also contribute to the overall well-being of the general public. Prof. Honyenuga acknowledged the remarkable progress achieved by the Clinic since its inception and commended the Medical Director and his team for their diligent efforts in making this facility the preferred choice for many within the catchment area.
He further assured of Management’s continued support for the clinic’s expansion and appealed to the Regional Health Directorate to assign more healthcare personnel to the clinic, to further enhance service delivery.
Mr. Joseph Homenya, the Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority, who was present at the event, praised the Management for its investment in the clinic. He acknowledged that the facility had become a preferred destination for many NHIS subscribers in town, and assured of the authority’s commitment to supporting the clinic in its journey towards becoming a comprehensive healthcare center.
