The Directorate of Planning and Quality Assurance (DPQA) of the University has paid a working visit to their counterparts at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho on Monday, 24th July 2023. The visit, according to the Acting Director, Dr. Edward Ayimey, was aimed at establishing a relationship with the UHAS counterpart for experience and knowledge sharing.
“As the only two public universities in the same locality, it is important for us to share notes on best practices in driving quality in our respective institutions,” Dr. Ayimey stated. He added that it will be in the best interest for both institutions to sustain the new relationship.
Prof. Eric Woode, the Director for Quality Assuarance emphasised on the crucial role of quality assurance in enhancing academic and service standards in higher education. He noted that Quality Assuarance must ultimately lead to the satisfaction of students hence the need for the Directorates to identify ‘faults in the systems and processes to advise Management for improvement.’
While applauding HTU for the initiative, Prof. Woode called for the harmonisation of Quality Assurance systems in the two universities, especially in the area of student assessment and accreditation processes.
Both sides later did presentations of their respective functions and operations. Present at the meeting were all staff of the DPQA, including the Quality Assurance Officer, Dr. Kofi Ashiboi-Menah, and the Planning Officer, Ms. Oyeba Akyea, all of Ho Technical University and Mr. Hubert Mawuli Yevu-Agbi, Assistant Registrar, of the UHAS Directorate of Quality Assurane senior research assistants from the Directorate were also present.
