Management has on Friday, August 21, 2026, engaged food vendors operating on campus over plans to relocate them to facilitate the construction of a new road.
Speaking at the engagement, the Director of Works and Physical Development (DWPD), Dr. Nicholas Awagah, explained that the exercise was not intended to drive the vendors out of business but was rather part of measures to ensure that the University’s development projects could proceed while safeguarding the interests of the vendors.
Dr. Awagah therefore urged the vendors to dismantle their existing structures to allow construction works to continue. He explained that suitable temporary locations had been identified to enable them to continue their businesses while Management put appropriate measures in place for their permanent relocation.
He urged vendors to dismantle their structures and directed the Security Unit to work with his office to ensure proper identification and documentation for an orderly process.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Acting Registrar, Dr. Michael Todoko, reaffirmed management’s commitment to supporting the vendors. He assured them that the new facilities being developed would be worth the transition, as they would come fully equipped with modern amenities to enhance service delivery and meet broader needs.
The meeting concluded with an interactive session where vendors pledged cooperation and readiness to continue serving the University community in the new spaces.
