HTU Supports VLTC to Develop New Strategic Marketing Plan

Following an earlier customer service workshop for staff of the Volta Lake Transport Company Limited (VLTC), the Company has renewed its engagement with HTU through a Strategic Marketing Planning Workshop.

The workshop, held from Tuesday, August 11 to Wednesday, August 12, 2026, sought to review VLTC’s previous strategic marketing plan and provide direction for the development of a new plan.

Speaking during the workshop, Mr. Godwin Owiredu-Yeboah, Manager of Human Resource and Corporate Strategy at VLTC, explained that the Company’s previous strategic marketing plan, which covered the period 2023–2025, had expired, creating the need for a new plan that reflects the Company’s current operational realities and future aspirations.

He said VLTC considered its existing relationship with HTU valuable and therefore sought the expertise of the University in developing the new strategic marketing plan. He expressed appreciation to HTU for its continued support and collaboration, noting that the engagement would provide the Company with an opportunity to reassess its marketing direction, identify emerging opportunities and develop strategies that would enhance its visibility and service delivery.

Welcoming the VLTC delegation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting industry through relevant expertise, knowledge and capacity-building interventions. He encouraged VLTC to continue to call on the University whenever the need arose, stressing that the existing relationship provided a strong foundation for further collaboration.

Leading the HTU team, Prof. Maxwell Edem Azila-Gbettor, Dean of the HTU Business School, took participants through the work undertaken so far towards the development of the new strategic marketing plan. He explained that the team had reviewed VLTC’s previous strategic marketing plan covering 2023–2025 as a basis for identifying areas requiring modification, strengthening and further development.

Prof. Azila-Gbettor noted that the review process had provided insights into the Company’s existing strategic direction while highlighting areas that required attention in light of current market conditions and the evolving needs of VLTC. He subsequently presented recommendations and proposed new strategic elements aimed at making the new plan more responsive, practical and aligned with the Company’s objectives.

The workshop reinforces the University’s role as a strategic partner in supporting institutions to improve performance, strengthen their operations and achieve sustainable growth.
