HTU Inaugurates New Audit Committee to Strengthen Accountability

Ho Technical University (HTU) has inaugurated a new five-member Audit Committee at a ceremony held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the F.O. Kwami Council Chamber. The event marked the official swearing-in of members to begin a new term of service, with a mandate to reinforce financial oversight, institutional integrity, and effective governance across the University.

The Deputy Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy to the members. He urged Management to provide the Committee with the necessary support to enable it to discharge its mandate effectively. He emphasised that close collaboration between the Audit Committee, the Governing Council, Management, and the Internal Audit Directorate is critical to promoting transparency and sound governance.

Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey also outlined the statutory reporting obligations and timelines governing the Committee’s work, stressing the importance of adhering to deadlines in submitting reports and monitoring audit recommendations. He encouraged members to pursue continuous capacity building to enhance their effectiveness to contribute to sound financial management in the University.

Welcoming the new Committee, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga congratulated members on their appointment and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver. He commended the outgone Committee for its dedicated service and invaluable contributions to strengthening accountability and upholding institutional standards. Prof. Honyenuga reaffirmed HTU’s commitment to transparency, corporate governance, and compliance with statutory requirements, assuring the Committee of Management’s full support.

On behalf of the outgone Committee, Mr. Richard K. Kwagbenu expressed appreciation to the Governing Council and Management for their support.

Following the swearing-in, members unanimously elected Mr. Frank Kofi Asare as Chairman. Responding on behalf of the Committee, Mr. Asare expressed gratitude to the University Management and the Internal Audit Agency for the confidence reposed in them. He pledged the Committee’s commitment to integrity, professionalism, and impartiality in discharging its mandate.

The newly inaugurated Audit Committee comprises Mr. Kwasi S. Dzramedo, Mr. Felix Azumah, Mr. Frank Kofi Asare, Mr. Kenneth Newlove Adevu, and Mr. Albert Akutetsu.
