Management, on Friday, July 24, 2026, has inaugurated the University’s Endowment Fund Committee at the Council Chamber to spearhead efforts aimed at mobilising sustainable financial resources for the institution’s long-term growth and development.
The Committee, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga, has been mandated to develop fundraising strategies and an action plan to operationalise the University’s Endowment Fund Policy, which was approved by the University Council in 2018. As part of its mandate, the Committee will also review the policy where necessary to ensure it remains relevant and responsive to the University’s evolving needs.
Speaking at the inauguration, Professor Honyenuga stated that the establishment of the committee underscores the University’s commitment to strengthening its sustainability and reducing reliance on traditional sources of funding. He explained that the Endowment Fund is intended to support staff scholarships, student development, staff capacity building, infrastructural development, research, and other strategic initiatives that will advance the University’s mission.
The Vice-Chancellor briefed members on work undertaken on the Endowment Fund initiative over the years and provided an update on its current status.
He encouraged the committee to build on the progress made and work diligently to develop clear objectives and an implementation framework that will ensure the fund delivers meaningful and lasting benefits to the University.
Professor Honyenuga further noted that establishing an endowment fund aligns with the expectations of regulatory bodies, particularly the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), which expects every university to have a sustainable endowment plan to support institutional development.
The Endowment Fund is slated for launching in February next year.
The Committee, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor comprises representatives from key stakeholder groups within the University, including Academic Board, Senior Members (Teaching and Non-Teaching), the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), the Alumni Association, the Technical University Administrators’ Association of Ghana (TUAAG), and the Technical Universities Workers’ Association of Ghana (TUWAG), among others.
The chairman, expressed confidence that the committee’s broad representation and expertise would facilitate the development of innovative fundraising strategies and a robust endowment framework that will enhance Ho Technical University’s capacity to deliver quality technical education and drive sustainable institutional development.
