The National Service Authority (NSA), in collaboration with the management of Ho Technical University (HTU), on Thursday, June 11, 2026, held a sensitization programme for final‑year students to prepare them for their mandatory one‑year national service.
Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Isaac S. Meyir, underscored the importance of accurate student records. He urged students to upload passport‑sized photographs with plain white backgrounds and verify personal details such as dates of birth and contact information, noting that errors had previously delayed certificate issuance. He announced that the student portal had been reopened temporarily to allow final‑year students to review and correct their records before registration begins.
Deputy Director‑General of NSA in charge of Programmes and Operations, Lt. Col. Moses Dok Nach Kpeungu, emphasized that national service remains a compulsory requirement and a prerequisite for employment in both public and private sectors. He cautioned that incomplete service periods do not qualify personnel for certification.

He explained that postings would be aligned with programmes of study, while reposting requests would only be considered under special circumstances such as pregnancy, nursing motherhood, disability, or severe medical conditions supported by certified medical reports. He further announced the introduction of a basic security training programme, including fitness assessments, to equip personnel with safety awareness and personal security skills.
The Director of Management Information Systems (MIS), Mr. John Apreku, guided students through the online registration process. He explained the step‑by‑step procedures for logging into the portal, filling in accurate details, uploading required documents, and validating entries before submission. He stressed the need for cross‑checking information to avoid delays in postings or certificate issuance and assured students of technical support throughout the registration period.

The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which students sought clarification on registration, deployment, validation, and the new security training measures. Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that the information provided would help them prepare adequately for their national service obligations.
