The Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University, Prof. Ben Quarshie Honyenuga, has joined staff of the University Clinic to mark this year’s International Nurses Day, celebrated globally in honour of the invaluable contributions of nurses to healthcare delivery.
The commemorative engagement, held at the Clinic on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, afforded the Vice-Chancellor the opportunity to interact with nursing staff, express appreciation for their commitment to duty, and acknowledge the critical role they play in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the University community.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Honyenuga commended the nurses for their professionalism, resilience, and unwavering service, particularly in responding to the health needs of students, staff, and external clients. He emphasised that nurses remain the backbone of healthcare systems and deserve continuous recognition and support. He further assured that the University remains committed to creating a supportive working environment that enables healthcare personnel to deliver quality services efficiently.
Speaking on behalf of the Director of Health Services, the Senior Matron, Susan Sitor, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the University for the thoughtful gesture, noting that the recognition has reignited their commitment to healthcare delivery. Another nurse, Esther K. Perry added that the honour bestowed has given the nurses and other staff of the Clinic renewed confidence to give their best to the University community and beyond.

International Nurses Day, observed annually on May 12, commemorates the legacy of Florence Nightingale, whose pioneering contributions laid the foundation for modern nursing practice worldwide. The celebration serves as a reminder of the indispensable role nurses play in promoting public health and saving lives.
Accompanying the Vice-Chancellor were the Acting Registrar, Dr. Michael Todoko, Chairman of the Health Service Management Committee, Prof. Edem Azia-Gbettor, and the Acting Director of Public Affairs, who together underscored the University’s collective appreciation for the dedication of its healthcare staff.
