HTU COUNCIL CHAIR CHARGES GRADUATES TO DRIVE NATIONAL DEV’T; AS SHE OPENS 26TH CONGREGATION

Ho Technical University (HTU) has opened its 26th Congregation with the first session held on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium.

The session featured graduands from the HTU Business School, the Faculty of Art and Design, and the Faculty of Built and Natural Environment. Families and friends joined the ceremony to celebrate the academic achievements of their loved ones.

In all, a total of 1,869 students who completed their programmes of study in the 2024/2025 academic year are graduating across two sessions. Thirty-three pursued postgraduate studies, 287 obtained First Class, 980 obtained Second Class Upper, 493 obtained Second Class Lower, 59 obtained Third Class, and 17 obtained Pass.

Chairperson of the Governing Council, Prof. Smile Gavua Dzisi, presided over the Congregation for the first time and congratulated the graduates on their success. She urged them to apply the skills and knowledge acquired to build businesses and contribute meaningfully to national development. Prof. Dzisi, the first female to chair the Council, commended management for the progress made and encouraged faculty and staff to remain committed to quality education and institutional growth.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, in his report, highlighted the University’s strides in expanding academic programmes, improving infrastructure, and raising academic standards. He noted the sharp rise in PhD-qualified faculty from 14 in 2019 to over 90 in 2025, with three professors, 14 associate professors, and 51 senior lecturers now on staff. He urged the graduates to become worthy ambassadors of HTU and impact society positively.

Guest Speaker, alumna Priscilla Dzidedi Adoboe Art-Maduguh, founder and Creative Director of luxury fashion brand LETIDO, encouraged the graduates to embrace innovation, professionalism, and resilience. She stressed the importance of networking and urged them to seize opportunities beyond the classroom.

The Overall Best Graduating Student, and Valedictorian, Nancy Agyeman Duah of the Department of Hospitality Management, achieved a CGPA of 3.96. She expressed gratitude to her lecturers, family, and peers, and urged her colleagues to pursue continuous learning and uphold excellence.

The 26th Congregation was marked by messages of entrepreneurship, diversity, and service, reinforcing HTU’s vision to nurture graduates who contribute to Ghana’s development and engage globally.
