Ho Technical University (HTU) has welcomed Mr. Marindame Kombate as the first Executive Director of the Ghana Circular Economy Centre (GCEC), a national initiative hosted by HTU and supported by UNIDO and the Government of Ghana to promote sustainable development and green innovation.
At a brief meeting held on Monday, 3rd November 2025 with officials of UNIDO, Mr. Eric Genin, Country Coordinator and Mr. Joseph Yeboah, introduced Mr. Kombate to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ben Honyenuga and the University’s Management team.
Prof. Honyenuga welcomed Mr. Kombate warmly and reaffirmed HTU’s commitment to leading Ghana’s circular economy drive.
‘HTU remains committed to driving national efforts in resource efficiency, job creation, and environmental stewardship through the Ghana Circular Economy Centre,’ the VC noted.
He encouraged the new Director to work closely with all partners and stakeholders to advance the Centre’s goals.

Mr. Kombate, on his part, expressed gratitude for the reception and pledged to lead the Centre with dedication. He assured stakeholders of his commitment to capacity building, innovation, and technology transfer.
UNIDO officials also commended HTU for its leadership and pledged continued support for the Centre’s success in Ghana and the wider sub-region.
Also present were the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Mensah; and members of the HTU-UNIDO project team, including, Dr. Harrison Adjimah, Team Lead and his deputy, Dr. Jennifer Adaletey, as well Ms. Yayra Bedie from the Directorate of Finance.
Profile
Mr. Kombate brings over 15 years of experience in climate finance, impact investing, and renewable energy across Africa. He has held senior roles with UNDP, Camco Clean Energy, and the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund, and serves on several boards promoting sustainable investment and cleantech innovation.
As Executive Director, he will lead the Centre’s strategy and operations from HTU, working with UNIDO, MESTI, and partners including KNUST, UCC, CCTU, City Waste, and The Or Foundation to scale circular solutions in Ghana.
