HTU HOLDS JOYFUL CLOSING SERVICE TO MARK END OF 2024/2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

Ho Technical University (HTU) on Sunday, August 10, 2025, held a joyful and spirit-filled Closing Service to mark the end of the 2024/2025 academic year.

The service, which took place at the G. M. Afeti Auditorium, was organised by the University’s Chaplaincy Board and brought together students, staff, and management in worship, thanksgiving, and reflection.

Preaching on the theme, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:23), Pastor Dr. Edem Honu, Deputy Registrar and Director, General Administration and Legal Services, described God as a dependable anchor in the face of life’s uncertainties. He urged the congregation to shift their focus from personal trials to God’s enduring character, noting that healing begins with confession and peace is found in truth. He added that God’s mercies are renewed each morning and His faithfulness never fails.

Following the sermon, representatives from the four major campus denominations led intercessory prayers. The Protestant Union prayed for a successful semester, while the Ghana Muslim Students’ Association (GMSA) prayed for strength and success in the upcoming examinations. The Catholic Community prayed for the University’s Management, and the Christian Fellowship prayed for peace and development in Ghana.

In a fraternal message, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ben Honyenuga, expressed gratitude to God for His guidance throughout the academic year. He commended the collective efforts of students, staff, and management, which contributed to a smooth and productive semester.

Prof Honyenuga also introduced the incoming Acting Dean of Students Affairs, Dr Baidenger Agyekum Twumasi, who takes over from Prof Elizabeth Obinnim following the completion of her tenure. He acknowledged Prof Obinnim’s dedicated service and expressed confidence in Dr Twumasi’s ability to build on existing gains.

The University Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Sylvester Agbezuge, commended Management for its continued support for ecumenical activities and the various religious groupings on campus. He offered prayers for students preparing for their end-of-semester examinations and urged them to comply with the rules governing the conduct of exams.

The service concluded with moments of thanksgiving and renewed hope, as the HTU community looked ahead to the future with faith and optimism.

Present at the service were Prof Christopher Mensah, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Dr Christopher Amehoe, Registrar; several Deans and Directors; the University Choir; and selected student singing ministries.
