The Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST) of Ho Technical University (HTU) held its annual FAST Week celebration from July 28 to August 3, 2025, under the theme “Innovating for a Sustainable Future: Bridging Science, Technology, and Society.”
The week-long event brought together students, faculty, and industry partners for a dynamic showcase of academic excellence, creativity, and community engagement.
The celebration was officially launched on Monday, July 28, 2025 at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium, with Chief Executive Officer of CelTel Network Ltd, Dr. Prince Kudjeson, serving as Special Guest of Honour. CELTEL, an indigenous internet service provider, has been a consistent supporter of HTU’s connectivity needs during major campus events.
In his keynote address, Dr. Kudjeson challenged students to pursue bold ambitions and leverage technology to drive national development. “Your aim must be bigger than yourself,” he said, urging the university community to think beyond personal achievement and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s transformation.

He expressed concern over the growing trend of illegal mining among young people, describing it as a national crisis that must be addressed through innovation and education. “We need to shift this narrative through technology,” he stated, citing China’s rise through innovation as a model worth emulating.
Dr. Kudjeson also called for a re-imagining of HTU’s legacy, asking, “How can we patent HTU?” and encouraging the development of programmes that promote wealth creation and institutional excellence. He pledged CELTEL’s continued support in linking students to relevant sectors and commended Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga for his visionary leadership.
Also present at the launch was the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Mensah, a distinguished member of the faculty. He commended the organisers for curating a week that reflects the University’s commitment to applied learning and innovation. Prof. Mensah noted that FAST Week offers a unique platform for students to showcase their talents, engage with industry, and deepen their understanding of real-world challenges. He encouraged students to take full advantage of such opportunities to build confidence and sharpen their professional outlook.

The Dean of FAST, Prof. Emmanuel Letsyo, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their support toward the FAST Week celebration, which he noted aligns with the university’s broader goals of fostering innovation, organising impactful seminars, and promoting inter-departmental collaboration.
Throughout the week, the faculty hosted a variety of activities that showcased the diversity and strength of its departments—Computer Science, Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Food Science and Technology, Mathematics and Statistics, and Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Highlights included exhibitions of faculty and student projects, a float through the principal streets of Ho, a cooking competition led by Hospitality students, and a well-attended awards and dinner night. The celebration also featured fun games and social events designed to foster unity and engagement across departments.
FAST Week 2025 reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to nurturing talent, promoting applied research, and positioning HTU as a hub of technological advancement and institutional pride.
