The HTU Private Hostel, a private hall of residence at the University, has recently elected its substantive JCR executives, marking a significant milestone in its two-year existence.
The 8-member executive team is led by Ethan Ekow Hedoti as the Hall President, Afatsao Kwasi Arnold – Vice President, Maxwell Mawuli – Male as the Organizing Secretary, Miriam Ahalivor – Female Organizing Secretary, Daniel Sambo Mpelimor – Treasurer, Olivia Enam Fianu – Financial Secretary, Enoch Edem Dormekpoh – Male Sports and Entertainment Secretary, and Rejoice Duncan – Female Sports and Entertainment Secretary.
They officially assumed their roles during a brief handover ceremony held on Friday, August 4, 2023. The management of the hostel, led by the Hall Master, Dr. Francis Fonyee Nutsugah, and Hostel Manager, Mr. Richdave Otoo, administered the oath of office in the presence of the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Elizabeth Obinnim, the SRC President, Theophilius Biney, and numerous other student leaders and hostel members.
The Hall Master said the inauguration of the substantive executives was a crucial step towards gaining recognition for the hostel as an official hall of residence within the university. He hinted at the possibility of a facility renaming in the future and encouraged the new executives to collaborate with management to set a benchmark for other halls to follow. He also called for discipline and cooperation among hall members and leadership.
Mr. Otoo, the Hostel Manager, commended the outgoing interim executives for laying a solid foundation and urged the new executives to live up to expectations.
The Dean of Student Affairs encouraged all students to be vigilant about each other’s safety and to live in harmony as one family.
On behalf of the executive team, the new Hall President pledged to work in the best interests of all members and called for the support of the entire community.
