HTU GRADUATES FIRST COHORT OF DIPLOMA STUDENTS AT NAVAL TRAINING COMMAND

The University has graduated its first cohort of diploma students at the Supply Application School of the Naval Training Command at Nutekpor.

This achievement was part of the 5th Graduation Ceremony, held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, which saw a total of 81 personnel receive their diplomas and certificates.

The graduates consisted of 30 diploma holders in Procurement and Supply, 25 in Secretaryship and Management Studies, and 26 certificate holders in Cook Steward Course.

The ceremony, which was presided over by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, and moderated by Registrar Dr. Christopher Amehoe, also had Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the Naval Training Command in attendance.

The FOC applauded the graduands on their achievement and urged them to reflect their newly acquired knowledge and skills in their operations, noting that, continuous professional training is a hallmark of a successful military career. He noted that the ceremony marked the latest success in the partnership between HTU and the Command and commended the University for sustaining the collaboration.

Prof. Honyenuga commended the graduands on their personal achievement and expressed pride in their acquisition of invaluable knowledge and skills. He encouraged them to advance further in their education by acquiring higher degrees, as he commended the Command for keeping to their part of the partnership.

The VC also highlighted HTU’s recent achievements, including being ranked the 5th Best University in Ghana by the Times Higher Education Sub-Saharan African University Rankings and winning the JoyPrime TV Big Chef Tertiary competition for the second time.

Deserving graduands received awards for their outstanding performance. The awardees were AB2 Patience Mabena Tawiah, Overall Best Student in Certificate in Cook Steward; Cpl. Adzasu Senam, Overall Best Student in Diploma in Secretaryship; and LS Dorothy Yeboah, Overall Best Student in Diploma in Procurement & Supply.

University officials present included Deans of the HTU Business School and the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, Directors of Academic Affairs and Public Affairs, and Heads of various departments.
