Forty (40) members of the staff who retired between 2019 and June 2023 were honoured by the University. They include both teaching and non-teaching staff who had diligently served the University in various capacities.
At the dinner held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, the retirees were presented with citations, including five distinguished senior members who received special awards in recognition of their exceptional service to the University.
Among the retirees was Madam Selorm Gbetodeme, who held the record for the longest tenure of service. She dedicated her years from 1987 to 2020 to the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles.
Accompanied by their families, the retired staff fondly reminisced about their time at the University. Dr. Noble Dzegblor, one of the retirees, proposed that the management arrange retirement workshops to assist staff in preparing for this phase of life, thereby minimizing unforeseen retirement-related challenges.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ben Honyenuga expressed gratitude to the retired staff for their unwavering commitment and extended his best wishes in their future endeavours.
The event was attended by members of the Management, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, as well as the University Staff Choir, which delivered enchanting musical performances.
