Mr. John Tumaku, a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics currently studying in China, generously donated a motorised wheelchair to Isaac Abor, a physically challenged Level 200 ICT student. Dr. Daniel Agbeko presented the wheelchair on Mr. Tumaku’s behalf on Friday, January 26, 2024.

According to him, Mr. Tumaku was touched by Isaac’s challenges with clutches. He commended Mr. Charles Dzimesah, a technician in the Department of Mechanical Engineering for assembling the equipment.

On his part, Isaac expressed profound gratitude to the lecturer for his intervention, citing the wheelchair’s potential to enhance his mobility and reduce dependence on others for assistance.

‘At a point I contemplated quitting studies, because I often have to depend on others when going for lectures with the clutches, and my colleagues had to carry me. But with this mechanised wheelchair, I won’t overly depend on my colleagues to move about,’ he recounted.

The donation received high commendation from the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Elizabeth Obinnim, the Head of Computer Science Department, Dr. Makafui Nyamadi and the Ag. Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Selase, who witnessed the presentation.  They encouraged Isaac to make optimal use of the motorised wheelchair for his benefit.
