Ho Technical University (HTU) has on Friday, November 6, 2026, welcomed over 3,400 fresh students for the 2026/2027 academic year at its 34th Matriculation Ceremony held at the G. M. Afeti Auditorium.
The University matriculated about 3,413 freshers comprising 1,936 males and 1,477 females, admitted from 5,370 applications received.
The freshers include 162 Master’s Degree students, 1,767 Bachelor’s Degree students, 944 Higher National Diploma students and 105 Two-year Diploma students, drawn from the School of Graduate Studies, HTU Business School, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Applied Social Sciences, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Art and Design, and the Faculty of Built and Natural Environment.
A major highlight of this year’s intake was a drastic increase in postgraduate enrolment, as admitted Master’s students jumped to 162, up from 68 in the 2025/2026 academic year and 48 in 2024/2025. The growth follows the introduction of six new postgraduate programmes to expand access to advanced studies and meet emerging industry demands.

The Ag. Registrar, Dr. Michael T. K. Todoko, administered the Matriculation Oath to the fresh students, who swore allegiance to the University and pledged to abide by its statutes, rules and regulations, uphold its core values, and pursue their studies with diligence and discipline.
On behalf of his colleagues, Marvelous Makafui Yaw, a BTech Architectural Technology student, delivered the Expectation Speech, pledging to abide by University rules and regulations, while urging the support and guidance of faculty and staff during their academic pursuits.

Addressing the matriculants, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, formally welcomed the freshers and assured them of Management’s commitment to provide a conducive academic environment, quality teaching and learning, and necessary support services for their holistic development.
He also charged them to uphold the values and image of HTU, stating, “Today, you formally become part of a community that is anchored on integrity, social inclusiveness, environmental sustainability and quality. I urge you to live these values in your academic work and in your daily conduct,” he said.
Prof. Honyenuga encouraged the students to remain focused and take advantage of opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship and professional development.

“This University offers you more than certificates. Embrace innovation and entrepreneurship, take advantage of opportunities for personal and professional development, and remain focused on why you are here,” he stated, and further admonished them to maintain discipline and good conduct.
“Maintain discipline, cultivate positive relationships, and conduct yourselves in a manner that will bring honour to yourselves, your families and this University,” Prof. Honyenuga added.
The ceremony, held in two sessions, was attended by members of University Management, including the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Mensah, Deans, Directors, Heads of Department and other members of Convocation.
