Ho Technical University (HTU) has, on Friday, July 17, 2026 officially welcomed five (5) newly elevated Associate Professors into the Professorial Club. This marks another milestone in the institution’s academic growth and expansion.
The event celebrated the scholars’ academic achievements, leadership, and public service, while underscoring HTU’s strategic commitment to strengthening high-level scholarship, research output, and institutional governance.
In his welcome address, the President of the Club, Prof. Maxwell Edem Azila-Gbettor, emphasised that membership goes beyond names on a register. He urged the inductees to embody integrity, discipline, intellectual curiosity, and ethical leadership, serving as ambassadors of HTU’s values.
Delivering remarks as Patron of the Club, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, described professors as the University’s principal flag bearers, and tenured custodians” who form the pool for future academic and administrative leadership. He stressed that the growth in professorial numbers enhances the University’s credibility and international benchmarking. Prof. Honyenuga further announced that the Professors Club has been officially recognised and approved by the Academic Board, paving the way for it to become a statutory body similar to a College of Professors.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor and executive member of the Club, Prof. Christopher Mensah, contributed to the discourse on academic culture, stressing the importance of humility and mutual respect within the scholarly community. He reminded members that citation counts vary across disciplines and should not diminish the merit of professorial rank. He affirmed that HTU professors stand shoulder-to-shoulder with scholars anywhere in the world.
Speaking on behalf of the inductees, Prof. Deodat Adenutsi expressed gratitude to the University leadership and pledged that the new members will continue to make a positive impact through research, mentorship, and teamwork to keep HTU’s flag flying high.
The five newly inducted Associate Professors include Prof. Deodat Adenutsi of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Prof. John Coker Ayimah of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics; Prof. Richard Selase Gbadegbe of the Department of Industrial Art; Prof. Baidenger Agyekum Twumasi of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering; and Prof. Courage Sedem Dzah of the Department of Food Science and Technology.
This induction strengthens HTU’s academic leadership and reflects the University’s steady progress towards becoming one of the finest institutions among the global league of universities.
