Ho Technical University’s (HTU) sports team, led by Chairman of the Sports Committee, Dr. Kwabena Darko Akuamoah, and Assistant Sports Officer, Mr. Otis Dodzi Ahorsey, has formally presented medals won at the recently held University of Ghana Invitational Athletic Championship to the University’s Management.
At the championship, which brought together eight institutions, HTU fielded 23 athletes and secured eight medals- seven silver and a bronze.
Among the standout performers was Patience Dometi, a Level 100 student in Automobile Engineering, who won three silver medals in Discus, Shot Put, and Javelin. Samuel Dagbui added to the tally with silver in Triple Jump and bronze in Long Jump, while Richmond Agbesi earned a silver medal in Javelin.

The Men’s 4x100m Relay Team capped the performance with a spirited run that brought home a silver medal in the relay final.
Beyond athletics, Dr. Akuamoah also briefed Management on the exploits of the HTU Football Club, which is competing in the Ho Municipal Division 3 League. The club has qualified for the middle league stage and is well positioned for promotion to the second division. Fully registered and steadily gaining recognition, the football club continues to attract attention with its spirited performances.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ben Honyenuga commended the Sports Committee for its dedication, noting that such competitions provide a platform for athletes to exhibit their skills and talents. He urged the university community to support the teams to achieve even greater success.
The Vice-Chancellor also expressed excitement about the football club’s exploits and reiterated Management’s commitment to advancing sports infrastructure, including ongoing engagements with authorities on the AstroTurf project.
HTU’s recent achievements in athletics and football reflect the institution’s resolve to nurture talent both in academics and sports.
