The Health Service Management Committee of Ho Technical University (HTU), in collaboration with the Department of Marketing of the HTU Business School, has organised a two-day Customer Service Training Workshop for staff of the HTU Clinic to strengthen patient care and service delivery.
Held on March 18–19, 2026, the workshop brought together nurses, physician assistants, administrators, records officers, and support staff. The sessions were designed to build staff capacity in communication, professionalism, and patient-centred care, ensuring that patients receive care marked by empathy, respect, and efficiency.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Edem M. Azia-Gbetor, Dean of HTU Business School and Chairman of the Committee, emphasised that the training reflects HTU’s commitment to continuous professional development and delivery of high-quality healthcare. He noted that refining staff skills and strengthening communication are essential to maintaining excellence at the Clinic.

Dr. Redeemer Fiebor, Medical Director of the Clinic, highlighted the importance of incorporating external expertise into training programmes. He explained that while the Clinic regularly organises internal capacity-building sessions, external facilitators provide fresh perspectives that broaden staff understanding and enrich professional practice.
Facilitators from the Business School led sessions on healthcare service quality, confidentiality, ethical standards, and handling patient complaints. Dr. Francis Fonye Nutsugah focused on service interactions and patient satisfaction, Beverly Nevis Glate addressed privacy, confidentiality, and ethical marketing, while Ms. Jewel Dela Novikovos guided staff on empathy, active listening, and structured complaint resolution.

The workshop concluded with an interactive session, during which participants demonstrated their understanding of topics discussed. Staff pledged to apply the knowledge gained to improve patient relations and deliver respectful, efficient, and patient-centred care, reinforcing HTU’s commitment to excellence in healthcare service delivery.
